Why am I becoming a data scientist?

I am involved in a career pivot and enrolled in the math program at Clayton State University. Being at CSU has allowed me to be in the same space with instructors who teach math but also encourage thinking about big problems and support innovation and “code ideas into life” (CSU College of Information and Mathematical Sciences)

I am a degreed accountant with a BBS from Georgia State University.  I have run my own accounting firm for over 26 years.  Throughout the years I see that the accounting industry has changed to a consultative model.  No more are we just reporting on historical activities.  I see that accounting information is data and as such will be monetized.  In other words, knowledge is power.  As Spiderman says with great power comes great responsibility.  I see that I must learn the field of data science so that I can understand this responsibility.  As I move forward this journey I have been inspired by Yeshimabeit Milner of Data for Black Lives.
